Army ROTC Scholarship Program provide financial assistance
for the education and training of highly motivated young men and women
who desire to serve as Army Officers after graduation from college.
If awarded a scholarship, the Army will pay your full
tuition (up to 18 credit hours per semester), provide $900 a year for
books and lab fees, and give you up to $500 a month stipend while school
is in session.

Types of Scholarships
Four-Year National Scholarship
Available to high school seniors, and awarded by a Scholarship Board
at the National Level.
Three-Year Scholarships
Advanced Designee: If you apply for the four-year
scholarship and are not selected, you may be awarded a three-year scholarship
instead. This is called a Three Year Advanced Designee Scholarship and
is applied at the beginning of your sophomore year.
Campus Based: You may also apply for a two-year or
three-year ROTC Campus Based scholarship in the ROTC department. In
order to be eligible you must apply for the two-year scholarship during
your sophomore year and the three-year scholarship during your freshman
year. Additionally, you must be enrolled in the Army ROTC Program.
Two-Year Scholarships
This scholarship is available to juniors who are Basic Course Qualified.
To become Basic Course qualified students must have completed the Military
Science I and II courses during their freshman and sophomore year or
have prior military experience (3 to 4 Years JROTC or have served in
the military and not currently a member of the reserve forces). Students
who are not Basic Course Qualified can attend the Leader’s Training
Course at Fort Knox, Kentucky. LTC is a 28-day; all expenses paid (travel,
food, lodging) Leadership Development Program that satisfies the Basic
Course Requirement. Students who complete LTC earn approximately $800.
While at LTC you will receive training in a variety of leadership positions
and military skills.
Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD)
Two-Year and Dedicated ARNG Two Year Scholarship: The
GRFD Two Year and Dedicated ARNG Two Year Scholarship are available
for members of the Army Reserve (AR) and Army National Guard (ARNG)
who desire to commission in the Reserve Forces. Applicants must be members
of the AR or ARNG or be willing to join AR or ARNG as a Simultaneous
Membership Program (SMP) Cadet. Give us a call to find out more.
Both Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. Students apply
for this scholarship the spring semester of their sophomore year. To
be eligible for this scholarship you must be a junior with 4 to 5 semesters
remaining until graduation.
Green to Gold: If you
are currently on active duty and have completed two years of active
duty before school starts and are accepted by a college or university
as a freshman, sophomore or junior, you can compete for an Active Duty
Green to Gold four-, three-or two-year scholarship. The deadline for
applying is 1 April. Selection deadline is 20 May.
Nursing Scholarship
Scholarship Students: 2, 3 and 4 year scholarships
are available to eligible nursing students at Tuskegee University.
All scholarships provide:
Tuition/fees: up to $20,000 per year
Books: $900/yr
Graduated Monthly Stipend: Freshman- $300, Sophomores-
$350, Juniors- $400, and Seniors- $500
University Incentives: Additional financial assistance
is available for eligible students through the Financial Aide Office.
Criteria for Scholarships:
United States Citizenship
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
Physically fit and medically qualified
Under 31 years of age on 31 December of the year you graduate from college
Good moral character
Non-Scholarship Students: Students can participate in ROTC without
a scholarship and will receive stipend benefits during their Junior
and Senior year while pursuing their degree.
Other Opportunities
The Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP):
Are you a member of the National Guard or the Army Reserve and desire
the opportunity to earn a commission in the Active or Reserve Forces?
If so, the SMP Program is for you. This two-year program is for actively
drilling reservists who desire to serve as officers. You can enter into
a SMP Contract at the beginning of your junior year. Some of the benefits
include:
- Continue to receive your GI Bill and Educational Kicker from your
unit
- Continue to receive Tuition Assistance from you unit up to $4500/
year.
- Serve in your unit as a SMP Cadet at the Grade of E-5
- Receive $400-$500 per month from ROTC as a contracted SMP Cadet
- You may be eligible for a $350 kicker from your unit
- Compete for slots to attend Army schools such as Airborne School,
Air Assault School, or Northern Warfare School.
Non-Scholarship Students:
You are not required to have a scholarship to be in ROTC. Those who
do not receive scholarships may still enroll in ROTC, complete college
and embark on an Army career as an officer in the Reserve, National
Guard or Active Duty. Non-scholarship cadets are eligible to receive
a monthly stipend of $400-500 upon contracting with Army ROTC their
junior year. Additionally, non-scholarship students are eligible to
compete for Army schools such as Airborne School, Air Assault School
and Northern Warfare School.
