LTC Hurd is native of Montgomery, Alabama. She earned a Bachelor
of Science Degree in Microbiology from the University of Alabama
and her Masters Degree in Public Administration and Health Science
from Golden Gate University, CA.
LTC Hurd was commissioned as a Signal Corps 2nd Lieutenant
from the University of Alabama ROTC in 1985 . LTC Hurd has
held a diversified array of command and staff positions culminating
with her current assignment as the Battalion Commander / Professor
of Military Science. Her military serves includes overseas
tours in Germany, Korea and Southwest Asia and a variety of
assignments in the United States, including assignments in Alabama,
Arizona, Georgia, Kansas, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington DC.
Her deployments include tours in Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Iraq. In 2000,
LTC Hurd was awarded the Information Operations Career Field Designator
and assigned to Third Army, Fort McPherson, Ga.
After the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack, LTC Hurd was deployed
to Kuwait and later Afghanistan (10th Mountain Div) in support of
the War on Terrorism. In 2003, LTC Hurd deployed to Baghdad,
Iraq as a Chief IO Planner in support of CENTCOM and the Coalition
Joint Task Force 7. LTC Hurd holds the distinction of being
the first female to serve as the Professor of Military Science,
Tuskegee University Army ROTC Battalion.

Major Kevin C.
Butler

Major Kevin C. Butler was born in Jamaica, New York and raised
in Staten Island, New York. He received a BS degree in Professional
Physics from North Carolina A&T S. U. Major Butler Graduated
from the Transportation Officers basic course in 1990 from Fort
Eustis, Virginia where he served 2 years with the Fort Drum 10th
Mountain Division DISCOM.
Mobilizations include Operations Noble Eagle, and Operation Enduring
Freedom while assigned to the 2-311th Regiment, 78th Division Training
Brigade at Fort Bragg, NC from FEB 02 to FEB 04.
Reserve duty assignments include USAR HHC 24th MI Ft. Wadsworth,
Staten Island New York, 920th CSS Petroleum Medium Truck Company,
Bayonne, New Jersey; CS Transportation Company, Brockton, Massachusetts;
1205th Transportation Operating Rail Battalion USAR, Middletown,
Connecticut, 959th Transportation Mission Control Battalion (MCT),
Staten Island, New York, 2nd Battalion 311th Regiment Observer Control
Trainer, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Current duty assignment is
Assistant Professor Of Military Science at Tuskegee, University’s
ROTC department.

CPT Maurice L. Murriel

Captain Maurice L. Muriel is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee.
He graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1995 after
earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. He was commissioned
through ROTC in 1995. He received his commission as a Second Lieutenant.
Following graduation from the Infantry Basic Course at Fort Benning,
GA, Captain Murriel attended the USA Airborne School and Bradley
Infantry Vehicle Course. He served most of his Active Duty at Fort
Benning, GA as an Infantry Platoon Leader for the 1-15th 3D ID (M)
and the Executive Officer and the Operations Officer with the 1st-38
Training Regiment.
Upon completion of his Transportation Officer Advance Course at
Ft Eustis, Va. in December of 2000, Captain Murriel served in a
diversified array of positions throughout his Army Reserve career.
He was assigned as the Battalion Recruiting Officer, S-4, and Assistant
S-2/3. He then became the Commander for Echo Company 1st-100th
Division (IT) in Moorhead, KY. Captain Murriel has also worked with
the Kentucky Independent Public Schools as a Family Resource Center
Coordinator. He then was selected for an Army Guard Reserve position
in May of 2004. He is now serving his first tour as an Army ROTC
Training Officer at Tuskegee University. |

Captain Jonathan L. Caswell, a native of Excel, Alabama, graduated
from Troy State University in 1993 after earning a Bachelor of Science
degree in Biology. He was commissioned through the Alabama National
Guard Officer Candidate program in 1994. He received his commission
through the Ordnance Corps.
Following graduation for the Ordnance Corps at Aberdeen Proving
Grounds, Maryland, Captain Caswell was assigned as a platoon leader
for Det 1-778th Non-Divisional Direct Support Maintenance Company
in Monroeville, AL. He also served as a platoon leader as a Shop
Officer for the 778th Non-Divisional Direct Support Maintenance
Company in Jackson, AL.
Upon completion of his Ordnance Officer Advance Course in February
of 2000, Captain Caswell was assigned as an assistant to the Material
Officer with the 731st Maintenance Battalion in Tallassee, AL. After
that, he went to the 226th Area Support Group in Mobile, AL, and
served as the Group Transportation Officer. In January of 2002,
Captain Caswell received his Transportation Advance Course at Ft
Eustis, Va. Captain Caswell has spent his entire career with
the Alabama National Guard, and has worked with the Alabama Department
of Public Health and the Florida Department of Public Health before
receiving a position as the APMS for the Army R.O.T.C. for COMTek.
He is currently assigned as the 781st Transportation Company (Medium)
Company Commander since November of 2002. He has recently returned
from Operation Iraqi Freedom with his unit from Ft Deposit, AL. |

Captain D. Lynn Baker

CPT Donald L. Baker is a native of Montgomery, AL. He graduated
from Alabama State Universtiy in 1996 receiving a Bachelor of Science
degree in Criminal Justice. He was commissioned through ROTC
in 1996. He received his commission as a Second Lieutenant
in Armor.
CPT Baker first entered the service in June 1992 with the Alabama
National Guard. He compeleted OSUT training at Fort McClellan
as a 95B(Military Policeman). CPT Baker enrolled in Army ROTC
in 1994 at Auburn University at Montgomery. He served as a
SMP cadet while continuing to serve with the 217th MP CO. After
receiving his commission in 1996, CPT Baker was assigned as the
Gold Bar Recruiter at AUM.
Following graduation from the Armor Officer Basic Course at Fort
Knox, KY, CPT Baker was assigned to 1st Battalion, 37th Armor, 1st
Brigade, 1st Armored Division in Friedberg, Germany. CPT Baker
held positions as a Tank Platoon Leader, Battalion Support Platoon
Leader, Assistant Battalion S-4, and Assistant Battalion S-3. In
August 2000 CPT Baker was again assigned to Fort Knox, KY to attend
the Armor Captains Career Course. Following graduation from
ACCC and the Combined Arms and Staff School, CPT Baker was assigned
to 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division where he served as an Assistant
Brigade S-4. CPT Baker was soon reassigned to the Infantry
Training Brigade (Sandhill), Fort Benning, GA where he was the Brigade’s
Adjutant (S-1).
CPT Baker later assumed command in May 2003 of Charlie Company
3rd Battalion, 47th Infantry later re-flagged to 1st Battalion,
38th Infantry. After 18 months of command, CPT Baker became
the Battlion Operations Officer (S-3) in November 2004.
Current duty assignment is Logistical Officer at Tuskegee, University’s
ROTC department. |

MASTER SERGEANT PABLO ROLDAN
Operations NCO/APMS
MSG Roldan is a native of Guayama, Puerto Rico. He graduated from Carmen B. Huyke High School, Arroyo P.R. He joined the Army in February 1983 and graduated Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO in June 1983 and Motor Transport Operator Advance Individual Training (AIT) in August 1983. He also participated in the Peer Instructor Program and stayed until November 1983 to help new trainees with AIT at FT. Leonard Wood, MO. MSG Roldan’s first duty assignment was with the 24 th Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, GA.
MSG Roldan’s duty positions include wheel vehicle driver, squad leader, Vulcan Senior Gunner, Vulcan Squad Leader, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course Instructor, Bradley Stinger Fighting Vehicle (BSFV) Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant, National Training Center Observer Controller, First Sergeant (Three Assignments), Battalion Operations Sergeant and Brigade Human Resource NCOIC.
MSG Roldan’s duty assignments and deployments include Fort Stewart, GA., Camp Hovey Korea, NCO Academy Hohenfels, Germany, McCully Barracks, Mainz Germany, Saudi Arabia (2), Fort Hood, TX, Fort Irwin CA., Fort Bliss, TX, Pusan Korea, Giebelstadt Army Air Field Giebelstadt, Germany and Sirkin Air Force Base, Israel.
MSG Roldan’s civilian education includes a Bachelor Degree in Electronics at the Bayamon’s Regional Technological University College, from the University of Puerto Rico.
MSG Roldan’s military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Air Defense Artillery (ADA) SHORAD Basic Noncommissioned Course, ADA Advance Noncommissioned Course, and the First Sergeant Course.
MSG Roldan resides in Phenix City, AL.

MASTER SERGEANT Galen M. Thomas
Senior Military Instructor/NCOIC
MSG Galen M. Thomas was born and raised in Bruceton, Tennessee. He graduated from Huntingdon High School in 1981 and signed up for the Tennessee Army’s National Guard. He attended basic training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Knox, Kentucky in May of 1981 and graduating in September of the same year. MSG Thomas entered the active Army in October of 1983 in Fort Hood, Texas.
MSG Thomas has been stationed at the following duty assignments respectively: 1 st Armor Division, Fort Hood TX (A Trp 2-1 Cav), 3 rd Infantry Division, Kitzegen, Germany (HQ 3-63 Armor), Combat Aviation Brigade, Fort Hood, TX, (BDE HQ) 2 nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Bamberg Germany (Ghost Troop 2-2 ACR) TRADOC Fort Knox, KY (D Trp 5-15 Cav) 10 th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, NY (A Trp 3 rd Squadron 17 th Cav), TRADOC, Fort Knox, KY (F 2-81 Armor), 2 nd Infantry Division, Korea (HHT 4 th Squadron 7 th Cav), Army ROTC Tuskegee University.
MSG Thomas is a graduate of the following military schools and courses: NBC Course, Combat Lifesavers Course, Equal Opportunity Course, Small Group Leader’s Course, Drill Sergeant Course, First Sergeant Course. He has attended and completed the following NCOES courses; PLDC, BNCOC, and ANCOC.
